Treatments for ADHD

Classroom based interventions are used commonly to treat problem symptoms of ADHD these interventions include educational strategies, peer-directed strategies, and self-management strategies. Educational and instructional interventions in the classroom help to encourage organization and instructional techniques that make ADHD symptoms seem much less. Examples of this treatment strategy include the use of instructional materials to increase stimulation to students with ADHD during academic tasks to highten their attention and improve their performance in the classroom. Another form of treatment that has been widely researched is behavioral management. The main way to do this is to increase on-task behaviors, task completion, control of impluses, and working on social skills. Positive reinforcement, punishment, and response cost techniques are the most widely used of techniques in behavior therapies. One treatment that is used by individuals with ADHD, and is a self management strategies but a teacher is also commonly involved. This form of treatment allows the individuals with ADHD to self-evalute themselves by evaluating the set standard for behavior and adjusting to it, to control their ADHD symptoms. Attention Training is also a very popular form of treatment for ADHD that is effective while being quit subtle and makes the individual feel as though they are taking control of their disorder.
