APA format

I was very confused when we first started our research paper and she said we had to do APA format. I had never been subject to APA format before, in all of the previous writing and English classes that I have taken all I have used is MLA format. Since my mind was trained to MLA format it was hard for me to understand APA format I messed up quite a few times when siteing my sources but after a little help from a friend, my old book, and the Purdue site I began to understand it more and more as I had to use it through out the semster. The real challenge for me was formatting my paper to fit APA format because once again my mind was trained to MLA so I didn't understand that the title of the paper had to be at the top of the page, and that on the title page the title had to go before your name and that everything had to be centered. None of my other teachers even my writing one teacher was never that specific about formatting. I do understand why formatting is important in a paper so I am glad for hard grading on my formatting. In the end I know after this semster I will walk away a better writer with a greater understanding and respect for formatting.
